JKT48 overseas activities, 1st major award, Pajama Drive revival 2.0, new variety show and more

Its been a few busy months for JKT48 members beside performing at the theater as their usual activities, they also performed in a couple of & off air events – even attending overseas event, here’s a short summary of their activities especially overseas event.

Melody reappointed as Okayama Prefecture Fruit Ambassador

JKT48’s captain, Melody Nurrhamdhani Laksani, has been reappointed as Okayama prefecture fruit ambassador. The reappointment was held in a modest ceremony on the 7th July officiated by Ryuta Ibaragi as Okayama Prefecture Governor.

Melody wasn’t alone to attend the ceremony – fellow JKT48 members, Team J’s Nabilah Ratna Ayu Azalia (Nabilah) and Team KIII’s Ratu Vienny Fitrilya (Viny) & Riskha Fairrunissa (Ikha) were also there to accompany her.

A part of their activities the four members also visit Okayama University Faculty of Agriculture where they have a chance to look over the campus facilities and promote Indonesia and JKT48 to the University students. They also participated in the parfait decorating event organized by the prefecture goverment and also visit the hot spring in Okayama

Chikano Rina attended 'ANA x AKB48 Challenge for Asia' Event in Shanghai

On 29th July, JKT48’s new kaigai member, Chikano Rina attend Challenge for Asia event in Shanghai. The event, which was supported by All Nippon Airways (ANA) served as cultural bridge between Japan and the country which the kaigai members stationed (in this case Jakarta & Shanghai).

In this event, the kaigai members shared their experience living in a foreign country and of course promoted their respective group as well.

Other 48 Group members who attend this event are Suzuki Mariya representing (SNH48 Team SII/AKB48 Team K), Zhao Jia Min & Zhang Yu Ge (Both from SNH48 Team SII), Kitahara Rie (AKB48 Team K), Takahashi Juri (AKB48 Team B), Ishida Anna (SKE48 Team KII), Murase Sae (NMB48 Team M) & Anai Chihiro (HKT48 Team H).

JKT48 will be performing at @JAM EXPO

JKT48 will be performing at @JAM EXPO event on 31st August 2014 in Yokohama Arena.

The confirmation came from the official lineup released by @JAM EXPO website & JKT48 Website.

@JAM EXPO will be features with almost 80 idol groups with some big names such as Sakura Gakuin, Dempagumi.inc, PASSPO☆ will also participate in the event – tickets can be purchased here if you happen to be residing in Japan!

JKT48 won their 1st Major Award

JKT48 finally succeeded to win their 1st Major Award for Best Production for a Vocal Group category for their 1st Single RIVER on Anugrah Music Indonesia (AMI) Awards.

AMI Awards is dubbed as the highest awards for music industry in Indonesia. In the awarding night JKT48 was nominated for two categories, the one mentioned above and Best Pop/Urban Vocal Group which they didn’t manage to win.

Winning the award was a sigh of relief for the fans, because last year the girls were also nominated but fail to bring home a single award. This award also means that JKT48 has earned recognition in the eyes of public since the winner of AMI awards is selected by a team consisted of professional musician and experts in music industry.

Pajama Drive Revival 2.0

To commemorate the 2nd anniversary of JKT48 theater in September, JKT48 management had decided to held 2nd Pajama Drive Revival. Same as last year, the participating members will be choosen by the fans who will vote for their favorite member to perform in one of the five unit song in the setlist.

Member with the highest vote in each unit song will be the center and the remaining members will be the 2nd-5th dance spots according to the formation in the unit song. The voting periods started from 14th July and ends on 15th August. Like the general election, the management also release the preliminary results of the voting in the following video

It’s interesting to see who will be selected as the participating members because an election like this often give some surprises at the final result.

Last year there’s a surprise when Melody was leading the vote count on Tenshi no Shippo in the preliminary result – but at the final result she didn’t make it into the top three and only managed to be one of the six back dancers’ spot.

Coming, Soon, JKT48 1st Variety Show

JKT48 will have their own variety show titled iClub48. The Show itself will be broadcasted in Net TV, Indonesian 1st HD Television.

The concept and the airing date is still unknown but the shooting already begun in the beginning of July. For the first episode they’ll be featuring Gingham Check’s senbatsu members.
