NMB48’s Comedy Show “Geinin” will be made into movie

NMB48‘s comedy TV program “Geinin” which was aired last year and gained fairly positive reception  among TV viewers will be made into a movie, it’s revealed on 16th.

In the program, NMB48 members such as Yamamoto Sayaka (19) and Watanabe Miyuki (19) challenged various style of comedies including Kansai-style comic dialogues called Manzai etc. In the show, they played roles of comedy club members of the female high school “Shiritsu Namba Jogakuen”(私立なんば女学院 – All girls private school, Namba), and aimed at winning “female high school student comedy championship (JK-1)”.

The movie employs the same setting as the original TV program, but depicts the whole new original story.

“Geinin” was the second TV program that features NMB48 aired in Kanto-region. The broadcasting of the show started in July, 2012, and lasted for 3 months. It was aired Tuesday midnight. 6 members of NMB48, Yamada Nana, Fukumoto Aina, Ogasawara Mayu, Jo Eriko and the aforementioned two, made regular appearances as members of comedy club, and in each installment, one member from the group guested the show playing various different roles.

Although the opening day of the movie hasn’t yet decided yet, the filming has already started.

“This is the first movie for NMB48, and first movie for me as well, so I’m very glad.” said Yokoyama Yui, who holds concurrent positions in AKB48 and NMB48.

“I wasn’t a member of NMB48 when the original TV program was aired, but I watched the program for a couple of times.

Since it looked like a comedy skit, I was wondering ”How it will be like if that program is made into a movie!?”

In the movie, Yokoyama Yui and Yamamoto Sayaka form a comedy duo.

Yamamoto confronts a transfer student portrayed by Watanabe Miyuki at every turn, but the story eventually reveals there’s a hidden past story between the two.

“The movie is filled with laughters and tears.” Yamamoto says.

“Since this is the first movie for NMB48, I feel pressure, too.

In TV industry’s language, it’s like ‘We must gain good viewers rating?’ Haha”

That’s Watanabe Miyuki.

“I am glad if many people watch the movie and it will become a big topic.” she continued.

Other members who appear in the movie include Yamada Nana, Ogasawara Mayu and Kotani Riho.
