  April 13, 2012

Great new for Japanese people, and all X-japan fans. X Japan, one of Japan’s hottest rock commodities, took home the prize for ‘Best International Band’ last night (April 11) at the fourth annual Revolver Golden Gods Awards, the largest heavy metal event in U.S.A. This is the first time Asian band nominated for the award, let alone winning the one.

Hand delivered by members of Anthrax, X Japan drummer/leader Yoshiki was on hand to accept the award.”Thank you Revolver, thank you so much for recognizing us,” said Yoshiki during his acceptance speech. He continued, “Some people might have heard of us, we’re from Japan. We toured North America in 2010, and did our first world tour last year.” He went on to tell the crowd that they’re working on finishing up their first English album with a world tour to follow. As with any great acceptance speech, it ended with Yoshiki thanking the loyal X Japan following, “To our beloved fans, thank you so much for your support, we are going to keep on rocking.”

Revolver Golden Gods Awards was founded in 2009, and every year it’s showcasing the world class hevey metal acts such as Ozzy Ozaborne and Metalica, soon got recognized as the most prominent awards in American heavy metal scene. ‘Best International Band’ prize is one of 11 awards of the event and the most honorable award for foreign bands. Their contender included Lacuna Coil (Italy), Sepultura (Brazil), Rammstein (Germany), Behemoth (Poland) and Meshuggah (Sweden).

It’s hard to emphasize the success of X Japan in their home country. With monster sales in the 30 million albums range and selling out the Tokyo Dome a record setting 18 times, their popularity is overflowing.

Another testament to their fanbase is X Japan’s inclusion in the Loudwire Cage Match Hall of Fame after beating out a slew of serious contenders from Black Veil Brides to Jane’s Addiction.

The forth annual Revolver Golden Awards was held in the evening of 11th Apr at Grammy Museum adjacent to Club Nokia, Los Angels. Winner of other awards included famous names such as Korn, Sevenfold and Slash. The ceremony was live-streamed nationwide through X BOX LIVE, and will be aired through MTV network and VH1.

On their official facebook account, Digest movie of the world tour of X-JAPAN is now available to watch.

To respect and embrace your own heritage is essential to communicate with people from different backgrounds, and I was impressed that Yoshiki made it clear that they are from Japan, their root is in Japan in very subtle but elegant way. As the writer for LoudWire wrote, from the early period of the band, members of X-Japan has always been cared about his fans , always embracing them with open hands. I think the firm bond the band developed with fans in Japan has something do with their speech full of elegance and respect to people. Thank you Revolver, you made me rediscover X-Japan. They’re not gone. On the contrary, they’ve been spreading love to the world.
