A Sneak Peak into the World of AKB48 Doujin Games: Ai no Kazu

With the impending release of AKB48’s latest PSP dating simulation game, 1/153 Ren’ai Sousenkyo, it is time we take a look at some fan-made creations.

One could say that the world of idols is projected as a type of ‘fantasy’ world. As such, it is not uncommon to see several methods that fans utilize to express their own fantasies. Some of the more common things that one might chance upon are fanfictions and fanart, which may either include a simple artistic piece, as well as comic strips. However, one team over on Baidu has decided to come together to bring about something more unique –an unofficial, fan-created, dating simulation game.

The game was originally inspired by a certain Furuyanagi (Furukawa Airi x Takayanagi Akane) fanfiction on the site and while the game initially was not planned, the creators realized that they were able to “portray something that words alone could not convey” and once they had told the other members of the Airi Group about their idea, it immediately took off. From this, the “Ai no Kazu” (a play on Airin’s name as well as the SKE song, “Ai no Kazu”) Galgame Project was born.

The story of the game is as follows:

The premise of the game is simple. You play as Furukawa Airi (SKE’s resident “safe pervert” who has a penchant for any and all things anime) and you try to woo and date all the other members in order to win the game. Unfortunately, the game is only available in Simplified Chinese.

The game itself is currently under works, with its expected release date to be somewhere around late October. This date, however, is subject to change due to the fact that they are low on staff currently. As such, the team is in fact looking to recruit any volunteers willing to help out with the entering of the text (which, according to them, does not require any experience, just some patience) as well as people who have experience with AU or CE audio editing software who can help with the editing of the music.
