AKB48’s 41st Single “Halloween Night” first public performance at Music Day 2015

So this is it, Halloween Night ( ハロウィン ナイト ), “the song” to answer the extraordinary efforts of fans of the 272 members who applied to be in the running of this year’s AKB48 Senbatsu Sousenkyo.

The 16 members who performed Halloween Night is the culmination of more than 2,3 million votes who were cast during 2,5 weeks of voting period. This single reveal will also be the first public performance for first time Senbatsu members, namely Matsumura Kaori, Takayanagi Akane and Mutou Tomu.

As you can clearly see from members’ costumes, the 41st single is themed on Halloween!

But why halloween? That’s a kind of question yet to be answered. You can say that this way the song will be relevant until shortly before Christmas (and ideally become the staple of the Halloween season), or that it’s no brainer because Sashihara Rino is a clown. Also the theme justifies to design costume for each one of Senbatsu members completely differently.

But Watanabe Mayu is stealing the attention with her sweet-goth-lolita cosplay!

Okay, it’s probably a product of her love for Takarazuka and her “Princess” image, but hey Sashihara Rino is totally nailing her black Disco-Queen costume (or Sweet Devil?) too!

Update: After the performance, Yamamoto Sayaka tweeted that the concept behind her costume is “Ghost of (medieval) Western Knight.” That explains her blue eye shadows and pale lip color!

The song arrangement today seemed a little off but like Koisuru Fortune Cookie, it’s likely that they are going to adjust a tune here and there over the course of time until the final release.

Takahashi Minami learned the song's choreography for around 15-30 minutes
