  March 26, 2012

“Let me speak for myself. When I was 14 years old, I was in the audition for AKB48, and I was chosen as it’s very first members. It was.. to apply that audition of AKB48 was a huge decision for me. And today, please let me make my second big decision in my life.

I, Atsuko Maeda, will graduate AKB48.

I’ve been really easy to get emotional, and it caused a lot of trouble to my teammates. And to my fans, I think I really got you worried a lot. But, I tried my best throughout this 6 and half years of my time in AKB48.

The first day of the concert, we announced out first Tokyo Dome concert, which is my dream since I was first joined the group, and it’s also an our dream. I am really looking forward to the event, and at the same time I think I must step forward to my 20 years old dream as well.

Honestly, I’m really nervous and uneasy. I have no idea what will happen next. I must go ahead for my junior members gathered here on the stage, I figured. Anything concrete has not yet decided. It’s not that I leave AKB48 right now. When I have specific information, I will tell you.

== All members sang “Aitakkata” together, afer that, Atsuko Maeda was alone on the stage and resumed her speech==

Thank you all so much, huuu (deep breath). This time many people tried to stop me. But, I didn’t want to fail to speak to all fans here today, that’s what I wanted to do. I will still be with you all fans, and make good memories with you. Even though I only have a short time left, I will never forget to make people smile. I keep going. Finally, I’m sorry to have surprised you so much. Thank you very much.”
