Oshima Yuko to win her first prize as an actress

It’s announced that AKB48 Oshima Yuko will be awarded “Cut Above Award for Outstanding Debut” at “JAPAN CUTS“, the largest Japanese film festival in North America held in New York.

Comment from Oshima Yuko:
“The character I played in the movie is roving around between ‘Bright side’ and ‘Dark side’, and it was a difficult role to play, I had struggled to figure out what it takes to play this character. I’d never been awarded a prize as an actress, and this time people from such a distant place, New York, appreciated my work, I heard. I feel very honored.”
What Oshima won this time is the prize that awards the most outstanding new talent in the Movie industry, including directors, producers etc. “I keep on improving myself as a human through working on various acting work as an actress Oshima Yuko.”, she said.

It looks like they are a formal and decent organization. They are promoting Japanese culture in North America.
