  April 13, 2012

You may don’t know but if you ever read her blog in Japanese, it’s obvious that Acchan is a huge fan of film!! In fact, yesterday, Acchan got a “Foreign Film Best Supporter prize” from Foreign Film Importers and Distributers Association!! This prize is awarded to 2 persons who are conveying and spreading the wonderfullness of foreign films to the public, Atusko Maeda and Kiichi Fujiwara, the professor of Tokyo University (BTW I’m alumni of this univ! yay!). The prize is also commemorating the 50the anniversary of the association and only awarded this year. The award ceremony was held yesterday, Tokyo.

The main reason for her getting the prize is that she is person who have an ability to convey the wonderfulness of foreign films to younger generations. She stated her vision on films “People in my generation who still haven’t found their dream yet, films can be a good source of motivation and you may find your dream or expanding your dream through watching them. I really recommend to watch films on theater screens!!”. Obviously she loves fimls since always carries a portable DVD player, and watching films while free time between schedule, doing make-up, and taking transportation. “I watch 5 filmsa week at most.” she said. Her latest favorites are Hugo and “The Artist” (both are French movies, remember? She once said Paris is her dream place.)

She herself also starred a movie “What if a girl manager of high-school baseball club read Peter Draker’s “Management””. “I watch movie from the view point of actor or actress who are in font of camera lens. Like ‘How this scene is taken, from what angle??’ haha I love to watch films this way.” The main reason of her graduation is her dream to be an actress, she explained before.

Bothe Acchan and Professor Fujiwara stated their surprise for winning the award, but also expressed their willingness to accept it and gratitude for the award. There also was a moment the professor was impressed with her choice and knowledge of moive.

In the closing statement, she said “Through watching foreign films, I could have a lot of dream. People in my generation who still haven’t found their dream yet, films can be a good source of motivation and you may find your dream or expanding your dream through watching them. I really recommend to watch films on theater screens!! I think I can’t watch all movies in the world in my lifetime but I want to know more about movie! First I start with “Casablanca” (Professor’s reccomend)”

She’s long continued writing her thought on the movie she watched. In the ceremony she wore sherbet-color dress and put red heels. When received trophy and prize testimonial, she commented with a broad smile “I’m just surprised for this. I’m merely a one movie fan, but I’m grateful for the award.”
