It’s not about money money moeny, we just want the world joy…
Anyway, AKB48’s latest concert DVD “AKB48 Kohaku Utagassen” sold about 68 thousands copies for the first week, making the DVD tops in Oricon weekly chart. Kohaku Utagassen is an annual music event held in new year’s eve. Musicians formed 2 team, Red and White, and compete against each other with their best selling numbers. AKB48 was also in the show, but this “AKB48 Kohaku Utagassen” a live event of AKB48, in which AKB48 held it’s own version of Ko-Haku Utagassen.
The number of sales for last year’s DVD was 18K for the firs week, one-forth of the this year’s DVD. Some says, Atsuko Maeda’s graduation announcement may push the sales figure up (and it’s logical to assume that the release date, 28th Mar was deliberately set right after Saitama concert), but this show also had important meaning for AKB48. In 2011’s AKB48 Kohaku Utagassen, not only AKB48 but their sister groups, SKE48, NMB48, HKT48 and 13th trainees also made appearance, which is great. On top of that, this was the first time introduction of JKT48 to Japanese public, which also drew attention of Japanese media as well as Indonesian media.
